Swanage is a great family destination. Here are a few of our favourite things to do - having children and grandchildren these have been tried and tested!
Putlake Adventure Farm ~ for indoor and outdoor fun
Located in Langton Matravers about 5 minutes from Swanage. Includes tractor trailer rides, indoor heated soft play area, bottle feeding lambs and goats, many rare breeds of animals, outdoor play area and poppy tea rooms. Open all year round from 10.00am.
Money World ~ for a great day out
A 65-acre ape rescue centre, home to over 160 rescued and endangered apes and monkeys. A great day out for the family, open every day (except Christmas) 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Located near Wareham Dorset.
Swanage Railway ~ something for everyone
Take a ride on the Swanage steam train! Stops at Herston Halt, Harmans cross, Corfe Castle and Norden. Special events throughout the year, Santa specials- every weekend in December and Christmas eve, every child receives a free gift from Santa during the train journey and adults receive a hot mince pie and seasonal drink.
Swanage Market
Swanage market is held every Tuesday from 8.00am to 3.00pm (Easter to autumn) at the main beach car park off Victoria avenue.
Brownsea Island
Brownsea is a beautiful 500 acre island of heath and woodland for all to enjoy, activities include daily guided walks, and many holiday activities for children and families from April to October. Half hourly boat services go from Poole quay and Sandbanks (just off the ferry) Other services from Bournemouth and Swanage pier.
Swanage Pitch and Putt
18 hole golf course over 16 acres of land with brilliant views of swanage steam train running alongside, Great for all ages, refreshments and picnic area's if you just want to watch! Open daily from 9.30 am to 8.00pm (Easter-31st October) Located at Kirkwood park, Victoria avenue swanage.
